Home Check-Up Inspections:  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure  

Homeowners love Check-Up Inspections because they give an un-biased evaluation of the current condition of their home.  They are highly educational and informative. Check-Up Inspections can also reveal many safety issues that could be dangerous or even fatal to the home’s occupants.  

What gets inspected?   There are too many things to list.  The inspector is trained to look at many different elements for each component.   Among other things, the inspector will look for:

HVAC – proper temperature differentials, proper flue ventilation and filter system,
Electric Panel – remove cover, check for scorching, undersized wires, mixed breakers
Foundation – Cracks, movement, signs of water intrusion
Roof – Roof covering condition, condition of flashings and sealants.
Water Heater – Functioning Elements, Proper flue ventilation
Attic – Pest intrusion, missing insulation, fungal growth, improper ventilation, exposed wiring
Siding – Missing, damaged, deteriorated, improper installation
Exterior Trim – Missing, damaged, wood rot
Crawlspace – Pest intrusion, missing insulation, fungal growth, improper ventilation, exposed wiring
Ceiling Infrared Scan – Concealed plumbing or roof leaks, missing attic insulation
Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors – In bedrooms, common areas, etc.  
GFCIs in wet locations – Presence and proper operation in bathrooms, kitchen, garage, etc.
Garage – Proper safety components, fire separation
Deck – check condition, load support, connections, hardware, installation, etc.
Stairs – Safety and trip hazards
Handrails and Guard Rails – Safety and fall hazards, condition, height, etc.
